Leaf test crops early to maximise yields

Check crop nutrition with a leaf test at early tillering or as soon as there is enough leaf cover for a foliar application to ensure optimum yields
Check crop nutrition with a leaf test at early tillering and again just before flowering to identify deficiencies and correct them before yields are affected.
Remember that your crops can suffer a 15 - 20% reduction in yield due to an underlying nutrient deficiency without showing any visual symptoms. Don't wait until you see the signs because you will have already lost potential returns.
With the steep increase in fertiliser prices this season many crops have been planted with reduced inputs, however you can still supply adequate nutrition, especially of trace elements, with a foliar program.
A leaf test enables you to design a cost effective customised foliar mix and only apply what is needed. Leaf test and spray:
- at early tillering or as soon as there is sufficient leaf cover.
- just before flowering to ensure good seed set.
